EDGECAM - Prismatic Milling Fundamentals

This course is the recommended starting point for any new EDGECAM user with milling applications. The focus is solids-based machining for prismatic milling (2.5D). The training is taught by a Hexagon Applications Engineer with practical experience in prismatic milling.

Applicable Licenses: This course covers capability on the Essential Milling and Standard Milling systems. Training is focused on milling applications, but the same capability is also available to users with the Standard Turning and higher licenses.

Students will be introduced to:
- The EDGECAM Launcher, which includes the user interface and typical solids-based software workflow.
- Building the Virtual CAM Setup (opening the solid, orienting the model for the machining setup, adding stock and workholding, and selecting the CNC machine).
- Feature recognition using automatic feature finder technology.
- Toolpath creation for common prismatic milling applications. This includes instruction on the core workflow to build roughing, finishing, and drilling toolpath. Some intermediate-level concepts will be introduced, including Feature Based Machining.
- Simulation.
- Generate NC code.

Pre-Requisites
- Familiar with CNC machining and/or programming.
- Basic computer skills.
- If you have registered for a course run in a Hexagon training lab, each student is provided an EDGECAM workstation with all files used in class. Unless otherwise specified, workstations in Hexagon training facilities run Windows 10 operating system.
- If you have registered for web-based training, students will use their company’s workstation which must have EDGECAM 2022.1 version installed and licensed prior to attending training. The Sample ToolStore database that is installed with EDGECAM will be used for the course. Student workstations should also have
     - Reliable High Speed Internet Connection
     - Microphone and Speakers, or a phone for audio
     - Dual Monitors are strongly recommended
