EDGECAM - CY Fundamentals - US
Rating :
EDG_L1T_TRG2

This introductory course focuses on creating toolpath for CNC turning applications that require live tooling. Instruction pertains to lathe-based CNC machines equipped with live tooling, configured for either XZ+C or XZY+C axes. This instructor-led training course uses practical examples and provides reasonable time for students to learn topics by completing course exercises.
This course builds on topics introduced in EDGECAM Turning Fundamentals. Customers with live tooling applications should attend both, which are typically scheduled consecutively.

The course includes the following topics:

- Building the Virtual CAM Setup for turning applications requiring C & Y-axis live tooling.
- Feature recognition for prismatic milling geometries typically processed on CNC machines equipped with live tooling. These include holes, flats, slots and pockets found on Z-axis aligned faces, on radial faces, and on cylindrical faces wrapped around the turning spindle.
- C & Y-axis toolpath generation for prismatic milling geometries utilizing Hole, Profiling, Slot, and Roughing cycles. Other machining cycles (toolpath types) may also be covered, at the instructor’s discretion.
- Understanding EDGECAM’s Planar and Rotary modes which provide user selection of XY, XC and Polar Interpolation methods of NC programming.

Pre-Requisites:

- Successful completion of EDGECAM Turning Fundamentals course.
- Familiarity with your CNC machine capabilities is recommended but not required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows.
- If you have registered for a class hosted in a Hexagon training lab, each student is provided with an EDGECAM workstation and all files used in class.
- If you have registered for web-based training, students will use their workstation which must have EDGECAM 2024.1 version (or newer) installed and licensed prior to attending training. The Sample ToolStore database that is installed with EDGECAM will be used for the course. Student workstations should also have reliable high speed internet connection and microphone/speakers or phone for audio. Dual monitors are strongly recommended.
