EDG_CLR_TRG
This intermediate 1-day course focuses on EDGECAM’s ToolStore Database. Students will learn to create a tooling database that will function as their organization’s Virtual Tool Crib.
Leveraging the ToolStore Database functionality is integral to using EDGECAM successfully. This approach improves CAM programming efficiency, facilitates process standardization, and increases opportunities for automation.
The course includes the following topics:
- Creating Mill, Turn, Hole and Probe tools.
- Using Custom Graphics for accurate simulation of cutting tools and holders, including angled heads! Practical examples include both solid and outline geometry.
- Organizing tools using Job Kits. This streamlines tool selection during the CAM process, improves results from automatic machining strategies, and enables critical programming data to be stored in the database. Job Kits are also integral for capturing key information in Live Job Reports.
- Creating materials and associated cutting data, which enables automatic lookup of feed rate, spindle speed, depth of cut and other key information during CAM toolpath creation.
- Catalog common stock sizes to utilize EDGECAM’s Stock Database command.
- Catalog common workholding items in the Fixture Manager. Items can be easily added to any CAM sequence with EDGECAM’s Fixture Database command. Class instruction covers vise and chuck examples.
- Catalog CNC machines in the Machine Manager, which enhances suggestions of suitable machines when creating new CAM sequences.
- Database Administration. This explains important files in the database system, covers critical functions including backing up databases, and offers recommendations for both standalone and network installations.
This course explains the broad capabilities of the ToolStore database system and answers the common questions many experienced EDGECAM users have. This course has a great deal of information that you will not find anywhere else. It is recommended for all EDGECAM mill and turn users and serves as the logical progression following completion of fundamentals training.
Pre-Requisites:
- This intermediate level course is focused on the ToolStore Database. It does not include instruction on how to use EDGECAM. Students are expected to be proficient using EDGECAM for their company’s applications.
- Knowledge of CNC milling and/or turning applications.
- Experience creating tools in ToolStore database is helpful but not required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows.
- If you have registered for a class hosted in a Hexagon training lab, each student is provided with an EDGECAM workstation and all files used in class.
- If you have registered for web-based training, students will use their workstation which must have EDGECAM 2024.1 version or newer installed and licensed prior to attending training. The Sample ToolStore database that is installed with EDGECAM will be used for the course. Student workstations should also have reliable high speed internet connection and microphone/speakers or phone for audio. Dual monitors are strongly recommended.
