From version 14.0.2.x all languages are available without licensing. The available languages and how to create language specific reports, forms or graphics is explained in this topic.

Languages in the Q-DAS software
As of version V14.0.2.1, all available languages are available in all Q-DAS Software products. This initiative aims to facilitate international communication between our customers working on global projects and to simplify access to our software for a wider audience. This documentation is intended to briefly explain the background and technical details.
There is a difference between "standard" languages and languages that are only used locally.
The "standard languages" are:
- German
- English (British) / English (US)
- Portuguese / Portuguese (Brazil)
- French
- Spanish
- Chinese simplified
- Japanese
- Italian
The reduced list of defined "standard languages" were chosen due to the fact that these languages can be spoken / understood in many countries.
Other languages are:
- Bulgarian
- Chinese traditional
- Czech
- Danish
- Korean
- Magyar (Hungarian)
- Dutch
- Polish
- Russian
- Romanian
- Slovak
- Slovenian
- Swedish
- Thai
- Turkish
Start language
During setup, the requested default language is set as the start language. The start language defines the language with which the login dialogue appears. Here in the example: Spanish:
Language of a user
For all other users, the last selected language is saved for this user. This can have the following effect:
A user starts the software: the logon dialogue appears in the default language (in the example: Spanish).
After starting with this user, the software is started in his or her last selected language (here in the example: French).
Changing the language
There are 2 language changes available:
The global language change: This changes the entire software to this language; when the user exits, this language is saved for the user. This is available under "File" and "Start" or directly under "File"
In graphics and reports, a different language can be temporarily selected for this element only.
Visibility of the available languages
Under File | Configuration |Additional Settings, the languages available for selection can be reduced:
The selection is saved in terms of user management, so it can be distributed via configuration management. However, it applies across products and modules.
The reduced selection is only applied in the File and Start tabs, as well as in the language selection for reports and graphics in the "Graphics settings" tab. This has no effect on other parts of the language selection (for example in language-dependent reports).
Fallback level for missing texts
If a certain text database entry does not exist in a language, it is shown in the last fallback level, in English (British). Here the example in the software is in Thai:
Next to the text in English, the address of the text is displayed (e.g.: "F,2,1730,30100,1").
If you wish to change this directly in your own text database, this can be done via the software.
Optimally, the software is switched to one of the main languages, then to the database texts:
The target language is selected as the second language. The entries can be searched for and then edited / entered directly here.
Language settings for Reports
You may configure the langue of single reports in the Q-FD Form Designer. It offers all languages that are part of the licence. The Q-FD application does not block any language licence for other users, so this option does not affect any other Q-DAS programs running simultaneously.
When you use this option, the program switches the langue of the report preview. The graphical user interface, however, is not affected by the switch of language. This makes it easier for users with poor language skills to continue their work
How to create multilingual reports
You may configure the language of single elements included in a report in the Q-FD Form Designer. It offers all languages that are part of the licence. The Q-FD application does not block any language licence for other users, so this option does not affect any other Q-DAS programs running simultaneously.
When you use this option, the program only switches the langue of the report preview. The graphical user interface, however, is not affected by the switch of language. This makes it easier for users with poor language skills to continue their work.
The following example uses an English graphical user interface, the report is displayed in Polish and the characteristics statistics table is set to German.
