1           K-field defaults - intention

Select the K-field defaults option to create catalogues to be available in the parts/characteristics mask. Applying these catalogues does not help you complete masks more quickly but rather checks the correct spelling. You thus avoid different spellings simplifying the subsequent application of evaluation automatisms, e.g. based on filters and queries.

Select File | Configuration | Catalogues | K-field defaults to adjust the settings.

The settings you adjust are saved to the respective user. When you adjust K-field defaults for a user, these user-specific defaults apply to all modules and are based on the inheritance mechanisms of the configuration management. Thus, settings made as ConfigurationUser apply to all users who have not saved individual settings. The handling as well as the functions of the configuration management are described in the separate document "Configuration Management".

Compared to catalogues containing additional data saved to a separate file or to the data database, customer-specific K-field catalogues are stored in the configuration database.

1.1     Define default texts for K-fields

Right-click in the window area "K-Fields" and select the option "Add field" to open the dialogue Part-/Characteristic- fields selection.

Click + to add parts/characteristics fields.

Add the respective K-fields and confirm your choice by clicking OK.

1.2     Define K-field content

Define the entries to be subsequently available in the Fixed text defaults field. First you select a K-field and then you enter the respective content in the Fixed txt defaults field.

1.3     Configuration and selection in mask

To apply customer-specific K-fields, you always have to include the new Input field for text offering different options mask element in the mask.

Open the respective mask in the MaskDesigner and insert the Input field for text offering different options element.

Use the element properties to adapt the K-field and the maximum number of characters.

When the Input field for text offering different options element is available in the mask, you can apply the default texts you defined. In case of need, you can also enter a free text.

1.4     Texts from the list of translations

When you added translations of the respective texts, these translations will be listed in the K-field defaults window and by the Input field for text offering different options element in the respective masks.

The following example shows the translation of the word diameter and how it is applied. Find the translations under File | Configuration | Catalogues | Translated texts.

The respective translation is listed in the Default texts for K-fields window.

When you apply the Input field for text offering different options element, the software lists the translations together with the defined K-field contents. The displayed language is the language defined in K-field K1250, that is already defined in the parts mask and saved to the test plan.
